Coleman is a small, quiet community located in the center of Michigan. Founded in 1868, Coleman was originally a lumbering town. Today, Coleman is mainly a farming community with many residents who commute to work in surrounding cities. Coleman is home to many wonderful parks, a skating rink, a variety of friendly businesses and also the Pere Marquette Rail-Trail, a biking and walking trail that currently extends from Midland to Coleman. Coleman is fortunate to have many larger cities within an easy driving distance for shopping, entertainment, employment and higher education. Mt. Pleasant is home to Central Michigan University and the Soaring Eagle Casino and Midland provides many cultural opportunities such as Center for the Arts and historical homes like the Alden Dow home.
